Beyond Facebook Tabs
November 04, 2021
In their latest redesign of Business Pages, Facebook has ended support for third-party application tabs. This means that it is no longer possible to add a quiz to a tab on your Facebook Page. Although this might seem problematic, let us explain how little of an impact this change will have on your quizzes.
First of all, tabs were only available on computers. Since mobile users make up for the vast majority of users, only about 10% of your audience will be affected by this change. Computer users will be able to complete the quiz on a dedicated page or on your website depending how you choose to publish the quiz.
Second of all, you still have the ability to link the quiz to your Page. The Page name, logo and like button will appear at the top of the quiz on mobile devices and in the footer for computers and tablets. Here is an example of how a quiz linked to a Page is displayed for mobile users:
Finally, you are able to create a quiz, share it on your Page Timeline and access the results just like before. Tabs had become buggy in the past few years and Facebook was making little effort to improve things. So the move away from tabs might be a positive change in the end.
